sect returns to the heart of the history once more. chicagos legacy is finally represented on the label by one of the finest producers of this city and sound, dj skull. words cant do justice to the legacy of this legend of house and techno music. for almost three decades skull has produced of some of the finest dancefloor tracks ever made, be it through saber (trax), djax, hybrid, majesty recordings, tresor, or many others. here the dark knight offers four very special cuts that reaffirm his legendary status. the title track combines the most up-to-date techno production techniques with the inimitable chicago jacking sound. *promise of peace* retrieves traditional house values on the mellower end of the musical scale, while *reboot* gets back to the straight-up techno, with some nicely understated acid elements, and finally *big girls* is informed by both reggae dub and forward thinking techno.

described in typically self deprecating manner as a vanity imprint in the classically ornery tradition, the pear growers series is a new label from chris madak, best known for his mind bendingly good output as bee mask. the first release sees material from madaks excellent spectrum spools long player when we were eating unripe pears get treated to remixes from celebrated techno artists surgeon and abdulla rashim. anyone who has heard surgeon playing the remix on his rinse fm show will agree that his unashamedly emotive breakbeat reworking of *the story of keys & locks* is arguably one of the simplest and most affecting remixes this year. complementing this, prologue and semantica artist abdulla rashim delivers a take on *unripe pears* that will resonate with anyone that has indulged in the elusive producers recent output on his own eponymous label.

welcoming warrior one to losing suki, the man like carl faure has been knocking out some killers for labels like black butter, catskills and king pigeon over the last few years, and for suki he shines a light upon the garage house hybrid sounds…. title track 5ths kicks things off with the kind of punchy garage house swing that never fails to move you, airhorns and synth sweeps pepper the cut whilst a thundering double 99-esque bassline throbs hard and heavy. flipside, the reverberating keys and mc licks of nyc continue warrior ones indulgence of the classic us house sounds but with a slick production for the modern dancefloor. closing track only you presents orgasmic pads and tough garage beats, its meaty bass touching the spot, a sweet slice of when rave met garage (somewhere in a field off the m25, most probably).

vinyl only! penultimate track. outshine masterfully reintroduces ethereal hints of melancholia over an undulating groove. look at the harlequins serves as an album closer like none other, a perfect distillation of a sound that unfolds like a dystopian nightmare but one thats sure to play a part in the most hedonistic moments of dancefloor abandon.

earlier on this year andy stott found himself playing on the same bill as new york heavy metal hoarders batillus. despite operating in completely different spheres, batillus had been playing luxury problems, stotts most recent album, on their tourbus and suggested a remix. the result is pressed up on this one-sided 12inch, a deadly reduction that pitches the original down into the abyss. andy stott will be back in 2014 with new material.

one of the most participative members of the off family, german production duo mat.joe, gets back on the release pipeline with a new exciting ep, this time collaborating with talented vocalist/producer/dj kevin knapp, already an important part of berlins underground dance scene.

eric is definately swedens most interesting and skillful producer when it comes to underground deep house and soulful techno. eric ericksson released his first single in 96 with several releases since then on respected labels, both indie and major. at age 18, he released a single on derrick mays label fragile, alongside artists such as carl craig and laurent garnier. later the same year he, as part of the duo minimalisterna, released a full-length album on virgin records. in 2011 the ep someone is watching was released on carl craigs planet e communications. as co-founder of kass recordings he released the work of some of the top artists on the swedish scene, such as zoo brazil and style of eye. in 2009 he formed north beach together with daniel howe and since then they had three releases on kant recordings and played in well-respected venues in europe. his latest 12 inch vinyl love cannot was released this summer on freerange recordings.

discrete formants ii zooms the audience deep into underwater landscapes, from bizarre and seemingly endless open space down to the finest organized microcosms. five tracks full of analogue warmth and idiosyncratic modular synthesizer interaction that are driven by semantic coupling between major phases and small details. as most dscrt acoustic patterns are growing characteristic complexity by situational combination and permutation of interacting sound sets, the 300 copies of this release are double-stamped, hand numbered and pressed in blue marbled vinyl, returning each piece of them to the product of a unique moment in space and time.

adrian niculae, also known as priku is one of bucharests finest djs and producers. after releasing for labels like arpiar and all inn he has now decided to release and produce independently. going forward, motif will feature most of his work, as well as some of his close aquaintances. acoustic is the name chosen for motif 01 and experiment is the game. similar to his last experience with arpiar, bonita mariposa is a dreamy, yet pumping track, filled with shakers and spikes that go along perfectly with the dark piano. afterhour delight or possibly an intricate starter, it could be either of them. marker keeps the piano but inserts more rhythm, more percussion, more mystery while micro house is blended with 808 rims and an addictive synth that will surely keep you...

block rocking, pop locking lonely c and baby prince are at it again with their latest fraiche ep on soul clap records. the troublemaking two-some take us back to 2011. it was a weekend in late august and new york city was practically under martial law. news tickers warned frightened citizens that a hurricane called irene would strike at any minute, flooding most of manhattan and williamsburg where the boys sat gleefully snacking and talking shit inside the world famous marcy hotel. with all airplanes grounded and the trains halted it became clear that lc & bp were going nowhere. it began to rain, the wind picked up and as the skies darkened, nyc declared a state of emergency.

before birthing his blasted acid house identity bobby draino drummed for various synth-punked groups around vancouver, and some of that scorched earth live energy bleeds through the five primordial bangers comprising his vinyl debut, *brain drain*. tracked live through one channel of a space echo straight to his computer, draino’s mo is overdriven drum machines saturated with gritty fried acid, bass damage, and blown-tone sequencer patterns, fused into a radical and weird debased mutant house. the eps five tracks are the cumulation of two years of demo workshopping, tr-606 and 303 autodidacticism, warehouse party spelunks, etc, all savvy tactics for developing a shredding, progressively singular style, which bd has in spades. one of the most awesomely wrecked and raw silk slabs to date. a west coast wiz worth watching. mastered by eric hanson. edition of 430.

release number 004 on lokee musik comes from long time collaborator and regular behind the decks at lokee events gavin herlihy. gavins music has been a constant feature on some of underground house and technos most iconic labels since 2006, and were very excited to add him to the lokee musik roster.

in the long line of belgian talent finding a home on wph (think san soda, lemakuhlar, metrobox, locked groove, …) we are pretty sure that kiani & his legion (aka thomas neyens) will claim his rightful place within a couple releases. because just like the other family members kiani has his very own distinct sound. totally kiani and also totally wph. kiani & his legion should have already caught your attention with his free *records & culture* vinyl in wphs v.i.p. series and he was also responsible for *legions of the east* on the recent wph summer special 2013. being a vinyl lover himself it seemed fitting that we release his full e.p. debut on vinyl only (grey coloured & marbled), containing four tracks that will show you the full spectrum of his house music universe. the key words in that universe are melody, breakdowns, surprise and emotion. it is pointless to describe the tracks one by one, simply listen, enjoy and most of all…dance!
